My Story
My self-discovery deep dive started over 20 years ago while I was in college. Living independently from my parents, I wanted to really understand why I did the things I did or acted in a certain way for different circumstances. This led me to hyper-fixate on psychology and neuroscience, learning about trauma and attachment styles and why I, and everyone else, act the way that we do.
In 2018, I moved solo to a new city and within 6 months found out I was pregnant. I knew the Universe, God, had a plan. Knowing that I was going into being a first-time mom solo, I bought my first house at 7 months pregnant. I really didn’t fully understand what it meant to be a mom. I only changed 1 diaper – mainly because my friend made me practice at least once. HA!
Had my baby girl December 2019… we all know where this is going… Covid. Not only was I a first-time mom, but as an extrovert, I was also stuck in my house due to lockdowns. The small community that I met became even smaller. It brought me into a deep depression, juggling new mom life with Covid, and throw in a custody battle in there (yes, the father popped back in about 5 months into her life) I didn’t know how I would survive. These were incredibly dark times but somehow, I made it through.
Motherhood hasn’t been easy; I have had to overcome a LOT throughout these years. Mainly because I didn’t want to pass this down to my daughter. Perfectionism, feeling like if I’m not working super hard it doesn’t count, giving everything to work and having barely anything left for my family, emotional regulation- the list goes on and on and on!
One thing I have learned about Motherhood is that a Child is a glaring mirror of what you experienced as a child. It opens old wounds that you didn’t know were an issue or problem. Children will trigger you more than you realize to help you heal and grow.
This is what I want to help with: being a mom is overwhelming, triggering, exhausting mentally and physically, losing yourself into a new role, and having to redefine who you are. Especially in today’s age, because we are the cycle breakers, we are more conscious parents, which adds to the layer of challenge because we want to do things differently, but it piles on. This is where I want to help. I want to help you learn and establish boundaries, nervous system regulation, triggers, and how to work through them, feeling your feelings, finding your joy, and learning to balance it all without toppling over.
I genuinely care about and have a heart for all moms out there, especially this generation, because we are choosing to do the hard work in healing. Will we be perfect? Absolutely not, but we will take steps in the right direction.
